23.07.10 County Week 2010. Well done to Northumberland who were victorious in this year, they fielded three sisters as part of their team. East of Scotland finished second. Both these teams get promoted.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the Club and made this another successful event.



05.07.10 The Avenue were accredited with Tennis Clubmark on Wednesday 30th June, and our thanks go to Rob Mort, Roger Manvell and others involved for all their hard work  in gaining  this achievement.

31.05.10 The charity event was NOT rained off, despite being a Bank Holiday! We raised over £600 (exact amount to be confirmed).
This is to be donated to The Rowans and Cancer Research UK.

15.05.10 Well done to Portsmouth for making it to the FA Cup. The Club celebrated in true style with approximately 70 people watching the match from the clubhouse. Also well done to our neighbours for what appears to be the largest Pompey flag in the world!

11.05.10 On Sunday 2nd May we held the Club Open day and ...It rained - but the club members shined! The indoor activities were a huge success.

Our squash and racketball coach Richard Hopp said ' All three courts were busy for the 4 hours I was there, and beyond, with people enjoying racketball and squash'.

The Avenue Gym Fitness Challenge was won by Ruth Percival, who really went for it, and won the WH Smith voucher.

Forty new members took advantage of the offer and joined the club on the day - equally spread across Gym, Squash and Tennis. Welcome to the Avenue!

The club's honorary secretary (Sean) took on two racketball challengers and emerged very pink and dripping but smiling. Sean thanks everyone who helped, and joined in, on the day ' especially the juniors who played new sports and joined in with colouring and games in the function room - it made for a very positive atmosphere'.

Sadly, the tennis events couldn't happen but we'd like to thank James Green and James Rosenthal for turning up to do the exhibition match anyway.

The fastest tennis serve competition will now be run at the Bank Holiday Charity Tournament on May 31st... Have you got what it takes to be number one :)

08.12.09 Closure of Gym on Tuesday 29th December 2009 until 5pm. To keep the gym in tip top order, it will  undergo a  'decor/cleaning blitz'  and therefore will not be available to use until 5pm.

25.11.09 Well, for those who have not ventured round the Club House due to the recent inclement conditions, the steps leading to the balcony have gone.... We're awaiting the new ones to arrive.
