Our three excellent squash courts, one of them being glass backed with a viewing area, provide the indoor alternative to tennis. The club enters mens, ladies, junior and veterans teams in the Hampshire leagues. Internal club leagues provide friendly but competitive play and various tournaments are held including the Annual Closed Championships and the 20 minute, handicap and doubles competitions. FIRST FOR AVENUE LADIES SQUASH SIDE

By winning their final match against Winchester Ladies 1st team by 16 points to 7 on Sunday evening, 18th March 2007 the Ladies have come top of Division One of the Hampshire SRA's Ladies Leagues for the FIRST time in the club's history.
The seven ladies who have represented the club this season are the captain Liz Walker, Sue Tant, Alison Barber, Fran Blake, Nicholle Noller, Binky Hallett and Sandra Johnstone and between them they won seven out of the ten matches played finishing clear winners with a total of 148 points. By winning the top Ladies Competition they automatically qualify for the ES Cup organised by England Squash. They were awarded a bye in the 1st Round and travel to play Tunbridge Wells in the second round shortly.

Squash Leagues:

The club will enter the same teams into Hampshire Squash Association's Leagues for 2007/8 as for the past winter season.

Next winter season there will be four mens teams in the Hampshire Leagues. There is also a ladies team in Division of the ladies' leagues. There will also be at least one one Junior side in the Junior Leagues.

The Avenue Club Leagues:

An internal league system runs all year round. Last winter there were 13 divisions each consisting of 6 players. Each league lasts for 6 weeks, at the end of which players' scores are tallied and movement within leagues occurs. See the squash noticeboard inside the club for more details.

The Club professional offers a wide choice of group and individual coaching sessions for all age groups and standards, from the very youngest to squad training for the advanced. Racquetball

A new initiative is the introduction of racquetball which is played on the squash courts. It is an excellent way of keeping fit and can be played by anyone whether or not they have played squash or tennis before. (Racquets and ball are available for hire).
