Squash at The Avenue

Our three excellent squash courts, one of them being glass backed with a viewing area, provide the indoor alternative to tennis. The club enters mens, ladies, junior and veterans teams in the Hampshire leagues. Internal club leagues provide friendly but competitive play and various tournaments are held including the Annual Closed Championships and the 20 minute, handicap and doubles competitions.

Professional coaching is available for all age groups and continues to enhance our already high standard. Phone Richard Hopp on 07904 069457.

Social play is always available.

Well done to all our teams in 2009/2010

The Men's 1st side finished last but one in the Premier Leage just a single point behind the 7th placed team and only seven points behind the two teams in 5th & 6th place. This should mean relegation to League Division 1 but there is a possiobility that, either by increasing the number of Teams to ten (as in most of the lower leagues) or one or other of the top teams in Division 1 not wishing to be promoted they could remain in the Premier Division. We will not know the answer(s) to this until later in the summer.

The Men's 2nd side have been promoted by virtue of winning League 2 and could therefore be placed in the same league as the 1st team!

Avenue 3rd Men's side did well to attain 3rd spot in their league. The 4th side were second in Division 5 A and face a play off against Wykeham 4 who were second in Div 5 B at Trojans Club on a date still to be determined to decide which of the two sides get promoted.

The Ladies side, beset by injuries later in the season to their small squad of players, finished a creditable 3rd in the Ladies Premier Division.

The Junior side did manage three wins in their league and gained valuable experience.

Depending on whether Avenue Men's 1 stay in the top league & Men's 4 do get promotion there is a possibility that a fifth side could be entered in the lowest league. If so there will play their Home matches on a Wednesday evening on Courts A & B.
